movement philosophy
Train for your life
As we get older there is often a misconception that it’s normal to have aches and pains, and that it’s just part of aging. We often source a treatment plan for a specific issue rather than looking at the big picture. Sherine is passionate about finding out what you really need; mobility training, bullet proofing your joints, focus on strength & agility, or soft tissue work. She will figure out what is structurally or mechanically off and why there is pain by studying and researching to get to the root instead of just treating the cause. It goes beyond treating the injury, instead teaching you how to build the foundations and have longevity in your body.
Do you have the prerequisites?
Whether it's sports, dance, weight lifting, playing baseball, whatever your passion is, we look at what is holding you back. Which ranges of motions are restricted in each joint and how are the surrounding muscles affected by it. Through the right combination of treatment modalities we implement will help you achieve your goals. Sherine believes in giving people the prerequisites they need and looking at the bigger picture. For example, if you’re working on overhead movements in your weight training she will look at your shoulder flexion and range of motion to assess what training is necessary for you to execute the movement. We need a little bit of everything - strength, stretching, mobility, weight lifting, stability work, even agility.
Bullet proof your joints
Think of your joints as the hardware of our bodies, we need to make them strong so the muscles, the software of our body, can function properly.
Ideally, your first visit with Sherine will be a Functional Range Assessment, to check all the joints, how well are you moving and assess your active and passive range of motion. Then you will work to clean it up, find the imbalances and make the joints work optimally. From there you will focus on the muscles- strengthening the body and building mobility. This will allow you to have a strong foundation as you move into working on your specific goals, try new things and challenge your body.
